TAXABLE VALUE PER
PUPIL: The districts total taxable property value as determined by
the Comptrollers Property Tax Division (CPTD), divided by the total number of students in the district.
This per pupil figure is often referred to as wealth. Property value
is determined by the CPTD as part of its annual study which attempts to
present uniformly appraised property valuations statewide. The CPTD value
is calculated by applying ratios created from uniform independent appraisals
to the districts assessed valuations.
* Stafford Municipal School District contains a high percentage of commercial property. The city eliminated its municipal property tax in 1995, for residents and businesses alike, and operates on revenue received from sales taxes, franchise taxes and user fees that are generally lower than those in neighboring communities. Stafford does levy school district taxes on all properties.
