One of the Houston area's finest private, college preparatory day schools, The John Cooper School, is another example of the diversity of choices available in the community. And there are excellent pre-schools and day care facilities located in The Woodlands. All make The Woodlands an ideal place to learn and grow. 

       While living in a forested environment, residents of The Woodlands are not far from the city, for The Woodlands is Houston's only new community linked to downtown by two express roadways, I-45 and the Hardy Toll Road.  For commuters who prefer to leave the driving to someone else, a private van pooling service and The Woodlands Express, a commuter bus service, offer convenient, reliable transportation along the I-45 contraflow lanes to downtown, the Galleria, the Texas Medical Center, and other parts of the city. 

       Like America's traditional hometowns, The Woodlands is a place for people of all ages.  Here, senior citizens take an active part in the daily life of the community, and contribute directly to it in many ways - from sewing Christmas buntings for the community hospital's newborn infants, to providing musical entertainment at local events.
