| Best of Both Worlds. Near the city.
Away from the city. Residents of The Woodlands can enjoy their hometown
charm and still visit the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the zoo, Space
Center Houston or the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo for a day's outing.
Winding Streets and Cul-de-Sacs. Sure, it's easy to get lost here, but that's how lots of people have met lifelong friends. "Excuse me, can you tell me how I get to Rockfern Road?" 'Sure, go past that pine tree up there past the pond, turn left at the next tree stump and go east about a mile. Say is that a new Jeep Cherokee you're driving? How do you like it?" Odyssey of the Mind. This program offered at CISD schools presents Melting Pot. People from all over the United States call The Woodlands home, as do many who hail from all over the world. This blend of backgrounds and cultures makes The Woodlands a well spiced melting pot of ethnic and geographic diversity. Memories. Now that it's more than 21 years old, The Woodlands has seen some of its younger residents grow up, go off to school and move back here to raise a family. Residents Jeff and Kelli Maggert graduated from McCullough in 1982 and 1983. They moved back in 1988. Jeff is one of The Woodlands touring golf pros on the PGA Tour. Now their children Matt and Macy will have memories of their own to cherish. Fishing. Lunkers Tranquillity. "In the short time we've lived here," says the Dew Family, 'We have come to love the hawks flying overhead in the daytime and being able to see the stars at night without city lights taking away from their brightness." Home is a place you go for nourishment of the soul as well as the body, and The Woodlands offers a peaceful haven.

Neighborliness. "People here have the unique ability to make you feel as if you've spent your entire life around them," says one Grogan's Point resident. "Growing up here allows my kindergartner many opportunities for friends," says Cochran's Crossing resident TinaJohnson. Howdy, neighbor. The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N. Earth Day and Arbor Day are good opportunities to meet the folks who encourage recycling. Find out how to build your own composting bin or attract hummingbirds to your garden with native plants. We're serious about keeping our earth friendly for all God's creatures whether they've got wings, four legs or two.
Community Events. Community celebrations such as the Wildflower Festival, the Fourth of July, Halloween, Arbor Day and Earth Day are among the favorite community celebrations. Residents also turn out at the polls on election day to vote on important issues.
