Senior Citizens. Many senior citizens choose to live in The Woodlands because of the many choices - ranging from apartments to homes to special communities like The Forum (formerly Chambrel). The South Montgomery County Community Center is just one location with activities catering to senior citizens.

The Woodlands Mall.  Shop 'til you drop or just zip in for a special gift at The Woodlands Mall with more than 120 stores.  The center food court with its whimsical carousel is a favorite lunch spot.  Or, as a place to recharge your  batteries before checking out the next sale.

A Mountie? You may do a double take in Town Center when you see the mounted security patrol in their bright red uniforms.  In addition to shopping, Town Center's growing roster of restaurants will keep you coming back, as will the new 17-screen Tinseltown movie theater.

A Feeling of Security. The Woodlands Watch crime prevention program has won the National Night Out Award twice. "The volunteers from the community make it all possible," says Watch director Elinor Price. "A safe community is built by people caring about each other."

Concerts in the Park. Summers wouldn't be complete without The Woodlands Community Association's free summertime concerts at Northshore Park. From C&W to reggae beat, you can bring a picnic and watch the moon rise over Lake Woodlands.

Excellent Public Schools. The highly regarded Conroe Independent School District (CISD) has schools of all grade levels right here within this hometown. You'll find an outstanding variety of academic, vocational and extracurricular programs.

Wildlife. Squirrels, song birds, raccoons, possums, rabbits, deer and roadrunners are just a few of our local inhabitants.  Places such as the Marsh Experience near Shadowbend Park are designed to encourage nature lovers to contemplate our indigenous species.

Street Names. Where else could you have an address on Catfeet Court, Crinkleroot, Lonesome Dove or Speckled Egg? Some of our best street names have been suggested by students at David Elementary School.

The WAC.  Swimmers come from all over to test the waters at The Woodlands Athletic Center (The WAC). The WAC has sponsored The U.S. Olympic Festival swim trials, FINA diving championships and international swim meets. The WAC offers gymnastics, aerobics, tennis and many other activities.

Montgomery College. With its state-of-the-art learning center and brand new campus, this community college is a welcome addition to The Woodlands.

Working Here.  Many of The Woodlands' residents work and live here - some in offices located in the Town Center, others in the high tech Research Forest. More and more businesses are choosing to locate here.

Rec Center.  The Gorilla Hole, a name chosen by teens for their recreational media room, is among features of the Rec Center, which offers programs and activities for all age groups.

Village Shopping Centers.  Just like the small hometowns in America at the beginning of this century, The Woodlands has its own neighborhood centers where you can go for groceries, pick up a prescription or have an ice cream cone. The difference now is that you can also rent a movie, pick up your dry cleaning or use a copy machine. All the same, it's a great place to visit with friends and neighbors.

Child Care, Nursery Schools. You can find many fine facilities for the care and education of the "wee ones" in The Woodlands.

Clubs & Organizations. Name your cause or interest, and there's probably a club or group for you in The Woodlands. Rowing, running, photography, bridge, art, music, politics, community service and much, much more.

Sign Restrictions. Urban blight simply doesn't exist within the boundaries of this hometown. Even the local McDonald's eschewed the golden arches in favor of a modified, sandblasted road sign.
