The Texas Medical Center, home to over 40 member institutions including
many renowned research and teaching hospitals, lies only a few miles northeast
of Fort Bend County The Medical Center's 62,000 doctors, researchers and
faculty provide care for 3.5 million patients annually Over the past five
years programs in the Medical Center have won research grants in excess
of $1 .5 billion.
Columbia Fort Bend Medical Center is an 84-bed, acute-care medical facility located in Missouri City Recognized with a Commendation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals Organization, Columbia Fort Bend offers excellence in health care to Fort Bend County and Southwest Houston.
Since 1983 Columbia Fort Bend Medical Center's inpatient services include surgery, diagnostic testing, orthopedics, obstetrics, pediatrics, intensive and critical care. Outpatient services include surgery, diagnostic services, physical.
therapy, respiratory therapy, electrodiagnostic testing, endoscopy, and nutritional assessments and counseling. The 24-hour emergency room is prepared to handle critical injuries and trauma, as well as major and minor emergencies. The Columbia Surgical and Diagnostic Center of Sugar Land, located on the Southwest Freeway, fills the need for the growing demand for outpatient surgery and diagnostic testing. Columbia Fort Bend Medical Center is a part of Columbia Healthcare Corporation, the largest healthcare company in the nation, with 19 healthcare facilities in the Greater Houston area.
Memorial Hospital Southwest
Houston's largest suburban hospital, Memorial Hospital Southwest offers the full range of emergency and acute medical care for the residents of southwest Houston and Fort Bend County It is part of the Memorial Healthcare System, a community-based, not-for-profit health care system serving the greater Houston area since 1907 and the largest such system in Houston.
Memorial Hospital Southwest is a 600-bed facility offering 24-hour emergency care, complete invasive and non-invasive cardiac care in its Regional Heart Center, 14 state-of-the-art labor and delivery suites, ICU/CCU, a 26-room operating theater (the largest in Houston), a level 111 neonatal intensive care unit, as well as a wide range of outpatient services, including laser surgery, hyperbaric medicine, endoscopy, sleep disorder services, breast services, and imaging and radiologic services including MRI, ultrasound and mammography. Memorial Southwest also offers cancer services, mental health services and wellness programs.
Polly Ryon Memorial
Hospital
Located in the seat of the second fastest growing county in the nation, Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital is meeting the health care demands facing the greater Fort Bend County area. The Hospital opened in 1950 as a 51-bed, not-for-profit hospital and today is a six-story, 185-bed facility offering a medical staff of over 150 physicians, including family practitioners and a variety of specialists.
PRMH is responding to area growth with additions to its medical staff In 1994 the Hospital formed a relationship with South Texas Medical Clinics, and currently six full-time STMC physicians practice in the Richmond Professional building adjacent to the Hospital. BaylorMedCare, a primary health care facility associated with Baylor College of Medicine, opened in the Richmond Professional Building in 1995 to bring the medical expertise of the College to the Fort Bend area. BaylorMedCare is staffed by two internal medicine physicians, two OB/GYNs; specialists in urology, general surgery, pediatric surgery and plastic surgery plan to join the group. The Hospital also added a general orthopedist to its staff, and PRMH plans to expand its medical staff expertise in anesthesia, oncology and pediatrics.
Polly Ryon offers primary and secondary patient care and emergency care services featuring some of the best medical equipment and facilities outside of the Texas Medical Center. PRMH's services include advanced imaging technology, an eight room CCU, a 24-hour emergency care center accessible by LifeFlight helicopters, the PROMISE birthing center) hospice care, pain and stress management) center for sleep disorders, sports therapy and rehabilitation.
PRMH is affiliated with the doctors and dentists located in the Richmond Professional Building as well as the Polly Ryon Physician-Hospital Organization which coordinates prices with a variety of managed-care programs and other insurers. PRMH participates in numerous managed care organizations, and is committed to community health education via such events as monthly wellness lectures, breast cancer screenings and health fairs.
