Missouri City is one of the largest cities in Fort Bend County, covering 26.4 square miles, with a population of over 40,000. Municipal Government is directed by the City manager in conjunction with the Mayor and City Council. Economic development initiatives are targeted at industies and businesses compatible with Missouri City's future planned growth in order to broaden the City's revenue base.
